Urgent Care

Feeling ill is simply one of the worst feelings. Whether you caught the seasonal flu, or you are experiencing pain, finding a way to get better quickly becomes a top priority. I am all about doing everything I can to prevent getting sick, like washing my hands frequently, preparing and handling food properly, trying to eat healthily and many other hygienic and healthy habits. However, when I do get sick, I am usually not prepared for the situation, since I don’t know what remedies to take, and finding a doctor seems harder than ever when all I want is to stay at home in bed.

After spending some time on Google, I found a useful list of apps. I tested some of the apps on their list and reviewed my top 3 favorites. Sometimes I think I should have become a health officer myself, after all, health-related career is in scope and health information techs jobs are expected to grow by 8% in future.

Rally Care Rating: 4.7, Downloads: 10K+

My first pick is Rally Care. I found it to be a great choice for finding a doctor near you fast! Whether you need to set up a checkup appointment, or you need urgent care right away, you will easily find a doctor, specialist or health facility quickly. I liked that you can easily input symptoms to find the right specialist to help you with your condition. I also liked that your health insurance information is seamlessly integrated, so you can instantly see what your copays, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses are going to be.

The only drawback I found is that Rally Care is only available for UnitedHealthcare insurance members. So, if you are shopping for health insurance plans, this is a plus you should definitely consider, as you will instantly find doctors when you need them!

Pros: Find doctors nearby quickly, instantly view health insurance coverage information.

Cons: Only for UnitedHealthcare insurance members.

Overall: Great for finding doctors nearby and viewing health insurance coverage costs, but it is only available for UnitedHealthcare insurance members.

PlushCare Rating: 4.9, Downloads: 10K+

My second pick, PlushCare is great for scheduling a doctor appointment right from your phone. No need to call the doctors office or visit urgent care! I found the interface really easy to use and with just a few taps you can select a time and doctor that fits your needs. Whether you want to schedule an appointment for later in the day, or within the next 15 minutes, the choice is yours to make. What I like about it is that you don’t need to physically go to a doctor office, as you can get instant attention with a video call with your doctor of preference. Another plus I found is that you don’t need to have health insurance to get medical help!

Although PlushCare lets doctors instantly prescribe treatments directly through the app, it is important to keep in mind that some illnesses require further medical evaluation before a diagnosis is finalized. So, if you have a medical emergency, you should seek proper medical attention. However, if you have a milder illness, I find it to be a great option for getting treatment on your schedule!

Pros: Easy appointment scheduling, video call appointments, no health insurance required.

Cons: Not the best option for medical emergencies or complicated medical cases.

Overall: Easily schedule an appointment and get connected to a doctor with just a few taps, but you will need to get proper medical attention if you have a medical emergency.

Doctor On Demand Rating: 4.8, Downloads: 1M+

My third pick is Doctor On Demand, as you can get instantly connected with a doctor 24 hours a day. So, even if it is the middle of the night, you can still get medical help when you need it. I like that you can get help with anything from allergies, cold and flu to depression and anxiety and more, as Doctor on Demand works with a team of board-certified physicians and doctorate-level therapists. I also liked that no membership is required, and you can easily view what the cost of your doctor appointment will be before you connect.

Although I found Doctor On Demand to be great for finding medical attention on-the-spot, it would be nice to be able to select the particular doctor you are connected with. However, by randomly pairing you with doctors across the world, you are guaranteed instant medical attention 24 hours a day.

Pros: Doctor appointments 24 hours a day, board-certified physicians and doctorate-level therapists, no membership required.

Cons: Cannot choose the doctor.

Overall: Instantly find a physician or therapist to help you no matter the time, but you won’t be able to choose the doctor for your appointment.

Conclusion

So, these are my top 3 apps for finding medical attention quickly. In case you need more, I suggest checking out the top 10 list, it was quite useful for my reviewing.
